Conditions Treated

Make us your choice for Physiotherapy in Ancaster and West Mountain

Orthopedics and sports related injuries

Our trained staff can help you recover from conditions involving the musculoskeletal system and sports injuries. We help in the healing process and recovery following a congenital disorder or degenerative disease using various physiotherapy treatment approaches.

TMJ Treatment

We have experience providing therapy for craniofacial pain and temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ) impacting patients who suffer pain or problems in the area of the head, face and jaw.

These problems can be caused by a number of issues including stress, trauma, teeth-grinding, arthritis, postural abnormalities and congenital issues.

Our experienced physiotherapists will assess your situation and devise a plan of treatment to reduce pain and work to correct the source of it.

Low back pain and sciatica treatment

There are many causes of low back pain and sciatica. Your care at Westmount Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation will begin with a comprehensive assessment to determine the cause of the pain.

Treatment will be patient specific and may include the use of various modalities,  acupuncture, manual therapy, active exercise, education and a core stability program.

Pre and post-surgical treatments

We offer a number of physiotherapy treatments to ease the pain of pre and post-surgical conditions and help you recover. Joint replacement surgery, for example, is proven more effective when followed by a full course of physiotherapy.

Osteoarthritis treatment

When the protective cartilage on the ends of our bones wears down, we develop a painful condition known as osteoarthritis.

Our physiotherapists are experienced in helping patients affected with this chronic condition to improve their joint function and reduce pain levels. Custom knee bracing is often very helpful for osteoarthritis of the knee.

Repetitive Strain Injuries

Pain caused by repetitive strain injuries like carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, golfer’s shoulder and sub occipital injuries can both be treated successful with physiotherapy.

Acute and Chronic Soft Tissue Injuries

Physiotherapists are often called to treat impairments of the upper and lower extremities. At Westmount Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation we treat a variety of injuries and conditions of the shoulder, neck, back, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankles and feet.

Patients requiring these therapies have often incurred fractures, sprains, dislocations, or nerve injuries, among other conditions.

Pediatric conditions

We treat a number of pediatric conditions including torticollis.

Our effective treatment program for children include therapy combined with parent education and home exercise routines, manual therapy and other modalities.

Headaches and Neck Pain

When treating headaches and neck pain, Westmount Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation physiotherapists focus first on finding the underlying cause of the pain. Common causes of headaches and neck pain include tight musculature, decreased joint mobility, and/or poor posture. Treatment may include manual therapy, acupuncture, postural exercises, modalities and Massage Therapy.

Work Related Injuries

Westmount Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation provides care for individuals who are injured at work. We ensure that individuals are promptly assessed and treated in an individualized treatment program to ensure safe and timely recovery and return to work.

Injuries Sustained During a Motor Vehicle Accident

Westmount Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation provides thorough and comprehensive assessment and treatment plans to individuals injured in a motor vehicle accident.

Patients who have suffered whiplash, soft tissue injuries, chronic neck pain and headaches from car accidents start back on the road to recovery with specially designed physiotherapy programs.

Concussion Management and Rehabilitation

At Westmount Physiotherapy we have two staff members who are trained providers of the Shift Concussion Management program, and who have also completed additional courses on the treatment of vestibular, visual and cervical spine disorders following a concussion.

Our trained staff can provide a comprehensive assessment and management program following an acute concussion to enhance recovery, and provide rehabilitation programs for those with post-concussion syndrome.

Treatment may include patient education, manual therapy, vestibular and vision-based exercises, cardiovascular training and return to sport specific exercises.
